LOCAL AND NATIONAL ARTISTS DONATE WORKS OF ART TO HELP YOUNG LATINAS
FORT WORTH, TX (June 13, 2013) – The Hispanic Women’s Network of Texas – Fort Worth Chapter (HWNT FW) will host ArtSi, their 9th Annual Art Show and Silent Auction in the historic Galeria de la Rosa, Rose Marine Theater (1440 N. Main Street, Fort Worth, TX) on Saturday, August 31st at 6:00 pm. ArtSi is the leading fundraiser for HWNT FW which supports scholarships for graduates of the Latinas In Progress Educational Series (LIP).
This year’s ArtSi program will showcase over 50 multimedia pieces from local, national and international artists with 25 silent auction donation baskets from several businesses in Fort Worth. While patrons make their bid selections, the crowd will be able to follow the blue to the jazzy sounds of Aurora Bleu.
ArtSi, led by Honorary Chair, Rosa Navejar, will feature an amazing printmaker, Linda Lucia Santana. Santana’s work resonates closely with the mission of HWNT FW of empowering women. Her piece, Las Pulseras, shows the nature of women at work and all of the power that is held within that dynamic.
"ArtSi is a fantastic event that really brings our community efforts full circle” stated HWNT-FW Chair, Anette Soto. “Local artists donate their talent and artwork. Our members are able to purchase and cherish that artwork while helping raise money for scholarships and programs. Our students volunteer their time and see the community giving back. And of course, the entire event is simply FUN and EXCITING to attend!"
In 2012, artist and silent auction donations helped support 45 Latina students receive more than $162,000 to attend public and private colleges that include: Texas Wesleyan University, Texas Christian University, Texas Women’s University, University of Texas at Arlington, and Tarrant County College.
